This morning’s trip to shoot the sunrise was complicated a bit by the closure of the Bay Bridge, but it was great to back up at sunrise after a long summer break. As the sky warmed here and there, the fog and clouds rolled in over the Golden Gate, moving swiftly across the setting moon, which sadly was too far north to be included in any but the widest shots I tried.
I spent about an hour and a half waiting for the rising sun to crest over the thick layer of clouds covering the eat bay hills, hoping that a warm light would mix with the clouds moving through the Golden Gate’s towers. That never happened, as the clouds east of where I stood were too thick to allow much light through. At one point, though, I glanced behind me and saw some pelicans escorting a sailboat toward the ocean and took this shot.
