Nikon has announced price drops on quite a few lenses, including several of interest to landscape and sports photographers.
Top of the list as fas as lenses you definitely want for sports, landscape and portraits is the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II . The price before the drop was $2,396.95 and this lens is now available brand new for $300 less, $2,096.95. Though I own the older version, I use this lens more than any other, and it’s the only lens I ALWAYS have over one shoulder at a race. The other shoulder may have the 500mm, or a wide angle zoom, but I always have my 70-200mm 2.8 ready to go whether I’m in pit lane or out trackside.
Another must have lens for, well, any Nikon shooter serious about photography is the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8G Zoom. This is my walk-around lens, great for portraits if you can get close to your subject, but also great for landscapes. The price drop on this one is only $90, with the new price being $1,796.95, but hey, $90 in your pocket is better than a poke in your eye.
The wide zoom that I carry both in nature and at theatric is the Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G which sees a $100 price drop, now available for $1,896.95.
I wish I could say that the Nikon 500mm f/4 had seen a price drop, as well as the 1.4x Teleconverter, but neither of these items is on the current list. You can see the complete selection of reduced-price Nikon lenses here at B&H.
