As a MotoGP photographer most of my motor sports images are of Grand Prix motorcycle racing, but I also occasional cover other series. In the unique morning back light of the traditional Silverstone pit lane we can see what comes out of the Repsol Honda RC213V exhaust pipes when they are warmed up for the first time of the day.
MotoGP is intensely colorful, especially under the lights of Losail Circuit in Qatar. For this image I was thinking of Pete Turner, one of my favorite modern photographers.
At the 2014 Valencia Test, the 2015 Honda RC213V of Marc Marquez starts up for the first time. Though the exhaust pipe has been used before (those colors aren't present on a brand new pipe), the smoke is from a protective coating burning off after shipping from Japan.
